Lil Sluggers Info

Lil Sluggers is a child development program created to introduce children ages 2-6 to the game of baseball. Lil Sluggers classes develop important baseball skills such as throwing, catching, hitting, and base running. Developmentally appropriate equipment and games are used to teach your child the game of baseball in a fun, exciting, and positive environment.

* Lil Sluggers has small class sizes, maximum 10 students per class.
* Classes can be held outside or inside dependent on the location, please beware of the location at registration
* Each Lil Sluggers class lasts 45-50 minutes.
* No equipment is necessary.
* We do private group classes.

2-Year Olds – Mascots (parent/caregiver participation)

The Mascots curriculum is designed to have the children begin their baseball experience in a fun environment that also introduces simple basics of the game.

Objectives:
* Simple base running and base recognition.
* Hitting; holding the bat properly, focusing on making contact with the ball off of a tee.
* Throwing in an overhand motion.
* Fielding, with emphasis on using two hands and not falling down.
* Fitness and agility.
* Improved hand/eye coordination.
* An introduction to social skills such as following simple instructions and taking turns.

3-Year Olds – Minors (with parent participation as needed)

The Minors curriculum is designed to have the children continue their baseball experience in a fun environment that also reinforces the fundamentals of the game.

Objectives:
* Simple base running and base recognition.
* Hitting, focusing on proper stance and level swing to make contact with the ball off the tee. Introduction to hitting from a pitch.
* Throwing…point, step, and throw with proper motion and aim.
* Fielding, with emphasis on using two hands, staying in front of the ball and not falling down.
* Improved hand/eye coordination.
* Understanding straightforward game situations, such as throwing a player out.
* Fitness and agility.
* Advancement of social skills such as following instructions, taking turns and teamwork.

4 Year Olds – Majors

The Majors curriculum expands on the skills learned in the 3 year old program, with slightly more technical instruction and game situations.

Objectives:
* Proper base running and sliding techniques.
* Hitting, focusing on proper stance, level swing, and follow through off the tee. Begin hitting from a pitch by the coach.
* Throwing…point, step, and throw with proper motion for distance and accuracy.
* Fielding, with emphasis on using two hands, staying in front of the ball.
* Catching pop flies with two hands.
* Learning various offensive and defensive game situations
* Fitness and agility

5/6- Year Olds – Hall of Famers

The Hall of Famers curriculum is designed to have the children continue improving their fundamentals skills while preparing them for their next level of participation, organized tee-ball.

Objectives:
* Base recognition and proper base running techniques.
* Five steps of hitting with focus on proper form including full swing and hip rotation.
* Correct throwing mechanics emphasizing accuracy and distance.
* Proper fielding technique, keeping their body in front of the ball.
* Using the baseball glove for fielding of line drives and pop fly catches.
* Teamwork.
* Game situations.
* Fitness and agility.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Class Cancellations:
Lil Sluggers reserves the right to delay or cancel classes with fewer than 4 children. We will make every effort to enroll your child in another class should this occur. Customers of classes cancelled by Lil Sluggers will receive a full refund.

Refunds:
Requests for program refunds must be submitted in writing before the first class of the session. No refunds will be given after this date. Class credit may be available due to long term illness or injury. All refunds will incur a $20 administration fee.

Trial Classes:
No-obligation trial classes are offered as a courtesy to determine a child’s readiness for the program. Trials are based on class availability and must be scheduled in advance. If you decide not to register for the class, you will not be charged. If a trial class results in a registration then payment for that class is due including the remainder of the session fees. It is not the responsibility of Lil Sluggers nnor is it required to offer a trial class to any or all customers at the time of registration or information request. Please Note: You must call 615-891-7028 to schedule a trial class. Upon signing up, your spot is NOT secure and a paying customer can take the spot at any time before your trial class. If this happens, the office will call you to reschedule your trial class.

Payment:
Only payment in full secures a spot in a class. No reserving or holding spots will be permitted. We accept Visa, MasterCard, check or cash, and payment may be made by phone, in person or by mail. You may also register using our secure online registration system. A $25 fee will be assessed for any returned checks.

Make-up Classes:
In order to be eligible for a make up class, participants must notify the Lil Sports Academy by phone or email IN ADVANCE of the absence. Make up class days and times will be based on availability. Make ups do not carry over from prior seasons. Each child is limited to two make up classes per session. No credits will be issued for missed classes.

We will try our best to accommodate make-up requests, however make-ups are a courtesy and we cannot guarantee availability.

Age-Appropriateness:
We strongly recommend children participate in the proper age appropriate classes as defined in our literature and website. The proper class is determined by the child’s age at the first class of the session. Any exceptions must be approved by the program director and will be assessed for suitability by the instructor in the first class of the session.

Drop-Off Policy:
Our programs are not drop-off classes. Parents or caregivers of all participants must stay in the building during classes in case your child needs assistance.

Instructor Requests:
We understand that once your child finds an instructor with whom he or she is comfortable, you may want to continue with that instructor. We will try our best to accommodate your request, however, we cannot guarantee instructor requests. All of our teachers are experienced and trained in our curriculum and bring their own strengths to provide an enjoyable learning experience for each child.

Siblings:
Younger siblings are welcome to observe the class but for safety reasons we cannot allow these younger children to walk and crawl around the field and play with equipment in the same area as the class. If you wish, you may ask the instructor for some equipment for the child to play with in another area where classes are not being conducted. Older siblings are welcome to watch but due to the focus and attention required in these classes we may not allow them to participate in the class in any manner. This is also to prevent injury to the participating children.

General Rules and Guidelines:
Please check in with your coach each week.
Please have children wear appropriate attire…ie. shoes, not sandals or flip flops.
Please have your child use the potty before class.
We strive to provide a safe and secure environment. Should you have a concern of any kind, please consult the coach or the director.
